A little help.

The early-access trial is available. This build is not Apple-notarized; start with the installation guide. Purchases are not open yet. For non-sensitive bugs, use GitHub Issues. A private billing contact will be published before sales begin.

Getting started

MacParallax lives in the menu bar. Open Settings, calibrate your comfortable lid position and enable the effect. The onboarding screens explain Screen Recording. Camera and Accessibility permission are not needed.

Screen Recording is enabled, but the app disagrees

Quit and reopen the app after granting permission. If macOS offers “Quit & Reopen,” use that. Development builds signed with a different identity may need permission again. This early-access build uses an ad-hoc signature. Updates may require Screen Recording permission again. Do not repeatedly reset all of your privacy permissions.

The screen or cursor looks wrong

Open the menu bar and switch the effect off. The app hides the overlay and releases the system cursor. If necessary, quit MacParallax. Report your Mac model, macOS version, app version and whether you were changing Spaces, using full-screen mode or an external display. Avoid including private screen content.

Audio

Audio is optional. Gentle follows the wider lid movement. Conversation lowers volume sooner after a small dead zone. Reopening restores the original level, provided you have not manually changed volume or mute. Some HDMI, USB and digital outputs do not offer software volume control.

Trial and checkout

The trial lasts 14 days from the first successful live desktop effect. Checkout is not open yet, so a license cannot currently be purchased. If the trial ends before checkout opens, the effect turns off; no payment is taken automatically.

Moving a license

In Settings → License, deactivate the old Mac before activating another. Internet is needed for activation and deactivation. An activated purchase stays usable during a license server outage. Keep your receipt; do not post a license key in public.

Read release notes for the latest available build. Updates are manually downloaded in the first release. The purchase terms describe the planned refund policy.
